Douro is wine and fruit plucked from the crags. It’s shiny olive oil stolen from the twisted olive trees on the landscape , once cleaned the original blood and sweat, since Douro is also people or the sum of obstinate lives dedicated to work . The “Wonderful Kingdom" of Torga that Jaime Cortesão explained : " The most beautiful and painful monument to the work of the Portuguese people". So are the lands of Ansiães, they too represent the most pure Douro, they also are human. Working people , without worm or redemption, in ripped by hand terraced orchards on the plateau. People who escape the crisis , the austerity, the troika , the country that creeps . These people never lived any other way. Each frame fixes the perpetual pain of taking wonders from a land that is not offered as marshlands or is as extensive as the plains . In the short summer hell and in the bitter winter that seems to have no end , only from work comes out life, calloused hands and the slim benefit. This is the true picture of Ansiães’s people , hidden artisans of this beautiful landscape that God has given to man in order to build a work of art. As penance , perhaps as a way to conquer Heaven , Heaven sore.
