The book “Stop, Listen, Look” is a walk between the past and the future. Father António Vieira thaught us that “if in the past one can see the future, and if in the future one can see the past, then in the past and in the future one can see the present, because present is the future of the past, and the same present is the past of the future”. The present is the anguish burning within the soul, always with the river by it´s side and the “Tua Line” walking with it´s legs on it´s back from station to halt. Along the way it waves goodbye to clocks without time, faucets that died from thirst, houses that appear to be the root of a decayed tooth, leaving behind a trail of footprints that rust will erase slowly and inexorably. It is hard this path that arrives to the end station, whispers in the night the “Tua Line” to the corktrees, strawberry trees, brambles, brooms and heathers that without shame engage in a vegetable orgy on the berm of the railway. “Stop, Listen, Look” is also a shout entombed in the river Tua´s flow. Death. Silence. Death is the whole silence. The silence that as the days go bye will erase us from the memory of the living. Night. An explosion of light!
